Project Description
Ballustrades and Canopies
St. George Hospital, Christchurch, New Zealand (Canon Wilfred Wing)
Design: The Austvision Spider Fittings are a stylish, high quality, maintenance free stainless steel fixing. The fitting has been designed to meet the Australian Standard for hand railing barriers to resist static load for the free standing frameless glass balustrades for commercial and domestic buildings. Standard finish available – Satin and Polished Stainless Steel.
Technical: The Austvision Spider Stainless Steel Fittings are designed to carry dynamic and static loads up to 3.10 kN and are suitable for 8mm to 19mm thick/toughened tempered glass. Manufactured in marine grade 316 stainless steel the fittings are suitable for external and internal applications especially exposed to saltwater conditions.
The Austvision Austfix spider system offers a light duty series of spider designed primarily for balustrades infill panels and internal screens. This system uses simple techniques for connecting tempered safety glass to a post or a frame by means of clamps or point fixings. The 443 and 444 series spiders have been designed to meet the standard for hand railing barriers to resist static loads for free standing frameless glass balustrades for commercial or residential buildings. All of the versions of the Austfix spider systems can be used in the design and installation of large point supported canopies or skylights as well as for canopies. Large canopies will use the heavier duty Austfix connectors in conjunction with steel post or horizontal glass fin supports. The light duty spiders used in conjunction with stainless steel rods and glass connectors can be used for low cost canopies with various sizes and layouts.
